NEW YORK — Wearing a red cap, black leather jacket and gray sweatpants, Carmelo Anthony walked into the Knicks’ locker room following their 116-94 destruction of the Milwaukee Bucks Friday night at Madison Square Garden.
The former Knicks star huddled first with point guard Jalen Brunson, sharing a few words and laughs, and then made his way toward Karl-Anthony Towns at Melo’s old locker. Towns had just gone for 32 points and 11 rebounds against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks.
Melo huddled with Towns for several minutes, giving him words of wisdom and encouraging him.
“I think you could find out in interviews and stuff, I’m a huge Carmelo Anthony fan,” Towns said in response to a question from NJ Advance Media.
“Melo’s been an integral part of my childhood and playing basketball, and if I could have kind of the career that he’s had, I’d be very, very, very blessed and honored to even be close to one of the greatest of all time.”

He added: “It was cool when I was able to see Melo on the court and play against him, but in a weird way being here in New York and to be a Knick and to be with one of the greatest Knicks of all time in my life, is pretty cool.”
Anthony has been a regular fixture at Knicks games since his retirement in 2023, and is now looking forward to the college announcement of his son, Kiyan Anthony, on Nov. 15. Anthony will announce between his father’s former school, Syracuse, and Auburn.
“I’m nervous,” Melo said with a laugh.
As Anthony exited the locker room, Towns said, “Be safe now, legend.”
