Former Fox News star leaving CNN for a new gig: Buzz

Former Fox News star Chris Wallace is leaving CNN for a new gig that might not be in traditional television.
“When I look at the media landscape right now, the people who are going independent, whether it’s podcasting or streaming, that seems to be where the action is,” he said Tuesday.
Wallace, 77, announced that he’s leaving CNN after three years. He left Fox News in 2021 to be a leading personality for the CNN+ streaming service, but the platform was shut down a month later by Syracuse University alumnus Chris Licht when he took over as CNN’s new chief executive.
Wallace, whose father Mike Wallace was a legend at CBS News, also previously worked at ABC and NBC News before hosting “Fox News Sunday” for 18 years. He didn’t specify where or what format his new gig would be, but said his exit from CNN was amicable and that he’s “actually excited” about being between jobs as his contract expires at the end of the year.
“Chris Wallace is one of the most respected political journalists in the news business with a unique track record across radio, print, broadcast television, cable television and streaming,” CNN CEO and Chairman Mark Thompson said in a statement Monday. “We want to thank him for the dedication and wisdom he’s brought to all his work at CNN and to wish him the very best for the future.”
